Sheikh Mukhtar Mohamed Hussein

Sheikh Mukhtar Mohamed Hussein (1912-12 June 2012) was President of Somalia from 15 to 21 October 1969, succeeding Abdirashid Shermarke and preceding Siad Barre.

Biography[]

Sheikh Mukhtar Mohamed Hussein was born in Xuddur, Somalia in 1912, and he joined the Somali Youth League in 1946 and became its leader in Upper Jubba. He served as interim President from 15 to 21 October 1969 following Abdirashid Shermarke's assassination and before Siad Barre's Marxist coup, and he died in Nairobi, Kenya in 2012.
