Shaykhah Hamdam of Qwivir

Shaykhah Hamdam of Qwivir (753-21 August 769) was the wife of Sheikh Jahandar of Qwivir.

Biography[]

Hamdam was born in 753 to a family of Zoroastrian Persians, and she was elevated to the nobility when she married Sheikh Jahandar of Qwivir. In 769 she was captured during Jahandar's failed rebellion against the Abbasid Caliphate, and Caliph al-Mansur did not want to make his vassals angry; he released Jahandar after the rebellion, but he had Hamdam executed as a punishment.
