Abu Hachim Shaybah ibn Rabi'ah (died 624) was a Quraysh champion, the brother of Utbah ibn Rabi'ah and uncle of Walid ibn Utbah. The three kinsmen fought at the Battle of Badr, where they challenged three of Muhammad's champions to battle. Shaybah was killed in the ensuing duel by Ubaydah ibn al-Harith.

Biography[]

Abu Hachim Shaybah bin Rabia was born in Mecca , in 551 , to a wealthy Meccan family the Banu Abd-al Shamss, his brother is Uthbah, and his uncles and aunts are Habib, Umayya al-Akbar, Umayya al-Assghar, Abd-Umayya, Nawfal, Abd -al Uzza, Abd-Allah, Ruqaya, Sabi'a, Umayma. And his wives are Fa'ra bint Harb ibn Umayya his cousin, and by her he had Asim, Zaynab and Ubayd-Allah. And his second wife and Sharak bint Waqdan of the Banu Amir clan, she gave him Ramla, Fatima and Aisha.

When the Prophet Mohammad called the Meccans to islam , he was against it . In 624 , aged 73 , Shaybah participated in the Battle of Badr alongside his brother Uthbah and is nephew al-Walid . Shaybah challenged Ubayda bin al-Harith , who killed him.
