
Shapur III (333-388) was Shahanshan of the Sassanid Empire from 383 to 388, succeeding Ardashir II and preceding Bahram IV.
Biography[]
Shapur was born in 333, the son of Shapur II, and he succeeded his uncle Ardashir II as Shahanshah of the Sassanid Empire in 383. In 384, he began 36 years of friendship with the Roman Empire by partitioning Armenia between the two empires, and he lived a simple life. In 388, he was murdered by some noblees when they cut the ropes to a great tent that he had built in his palace, and it crushed him to death.
