Shangri-La, known as Tōgenkyō in Japanese, is a soapland located in Kabukicho, Tokyo. Shangri-La called itself a spa to hide its status as a brothel, and the yakuza Ichiban Kasuga was born there and raised by its owner Jiro Kasuga. In 2005, Shangri-La was the site of an attack by the Majima-gumi, whose leader Goro Majima crashed a dump truck through the front doors during his search for Kazuma Kiryu, who had visited the club to find Shinji Tanaka's girlfriend Akemi Yoshizawa after Shinji's death. The following years saw Shangri-La become a homeless shelter, and, in 2006, Kiryu and Kaoru Sayama rescued Daigo Dojima from the Goryu-kai's captivity. In 2016, Saio Triad leader Big Lo used the ruined brothel as a hideout, hiring its gritty residents as bodyguards.
