Severus Alexander (1 October 208-19 March 235) was the Emperor of the Roman Empire from 11 March 222 to 19 March 235, succeeding Elagabalus and preceding Maximinus Thrax.
Biography[]
Severus Alexander was born on 1 October 208 in Arca Caesarea, Syria Phoenicia, Roman Empire (present-day Akkar, Lebanon). On the assassination of his cousin Elagabalus, Severus became the emperor of the Roman Empire, another scion of the House of Severus. His peacetime reign was prosperous, although he still had to fight against the Sassanid Empire on the eastern frontier in Mesopotamia. Severus also campaigned against Germania, and he used bribery and diplomacy against the Germanic tribes. The Roman legions were alienated from him, and he was killed along with his mother by Roman soldiers at his camp in Moguntiacum (Mainz).
