Sergio Espino Verdin (born 1952) was a Mexican DFS agent who was involved in the torture and murder of DEA agent Kiki Camarena.
Biography[]
Sergio Espino Verdin was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico in 1952, and he became the head of the judicial police in Guadalajara as well as joining the DFS. Espino was trained in interrogation techniques by the CIA, and he was hired by the Guadalajara Cartel to interrogate the captive DEA agent Kiki Camarena in February 1986. After the DFS was disbanded, he joined CISEN, and, on 8 January 1986, he was abducted by the DEA and tortured into revealing that Camarena's torture had occurred at Ruben Zuno Arce's estate. He was then released, and, by 2020, he was on the DEA's Most Wanted Fugitives list.
