
Sergey Yevgenyevich Naryshkin (27 October 1954-) was a United Russia member of the State Duma from 21 December 2011 to 5 October 2016 and Director of the SVR from 5 October 2016 (succeeding Mikhail Fradkov).
Biography[]
Sergey Naryshkin was born in Leningrad, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union in 1954, and he worked at the Soviet embassy in Brussels, Belgium as a KGB agent during the 1980s. During the 1990s, he became a businessman who worked for Promstroybank, and he also became involved with Russian politics. He served as a Deputy Prime Minister from 2004 to 2008, Chair of the Presidential Administration from 2008 to 2011, Chairman of the State Duma from 2011 to 2016, and Director of the SVR from 2016.
