
Sergey Vladimirovich Dronov (11 August 1962-) was a Russian Army Lieutenant-General who served in the First Chechen War, Second Chechen War, Syrian Civil War, and the Russo-Ukrainian War.
Biography[]
Sergey Vladimirovich Dronov was born in Almazny, Voroshilovgrad Oblast (now Luhansk Oblast), Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union in 1962, and he joined the Soviet Air Force in 1978 and served in a fighter-bomber unit in the Belarusian Military District from 1983 to 1990. He graduated from the Yuri Gagarin Air Force Academy in 1992, serving in the North Caucasus during the Chechen conflict before serving as Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Aerospace Forces from 2015 to 2019 (during which he helped oversee the Russian Air Force's intervention in the Syrian Civil War) and Commander-in-Chief from 2019.
