
Sergei Sergeevich Sidorsky (born 13 March 1954) was Prime Minister of Belarus from 10 July 2003 to 28 December 2010, succeeding Gennady Novitsky and preceding Mikhail Myasnikovich.
Biography[]
Sergei Sidorsky was born in Gomel, Byelorussian SSR, Soviet Union on 13 March 1954. In 1976, he graduated from the Belarusian Institute of Railway Engineers, and he worked as an electrical fitter and electrician for years. From 1976 to 1991, he worked as the foreman of an assembly shop, head of laboratory, head of department, and as deputy director at Gomel Radio Equipment Plant, of which he served as director from 1991 to 1992. Sidorsky became involved with other business ventures before serving as Deputy Prime Minister from 2001 to 2002. In 2003, he became Prime Minister, and he served for seven years as an independent politician.
