The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) is a conservative and populist political party in Serbia, founded on 21 October 2008 as the result of divisions within the camp of the far-right Serbian Radical Party. Tomislav Nikolic, formerly the deputy leader of the Radical Party, founded the less-radical SNS party, and the party favored remaining in the European Union, while it also maintained contact with the Russian "United Russia" party (which was opposed to the EU) and the Freedom Party of Austria. In late 2012, the party became the ruling party of Serbia, and it held 93/250 National Assembly seats, 46/120 Vojvodina Assembly seats, and 57/110 Belgrade City Assembly seats in 2016.
