The Serb Democratic Party (SDS) is a national conservative political party in the Republika Srpska of Bosnia and Herzegovina that was founded in 1990. The party was founded by Radovan Karadzic with the goal of uniting the Serbs of Bosnia, hoping to remain a part of Yugoslavia. The party was the ruling party of the Republika Srpska from 1992 to 1997 and then from 2000 to 2006, and the United States accused the party of harboring Bosnian War criminals. Karadzic himself was arrested and imprisoned for his involvement with war crimes in Bosnia.
