The Senegalese Democratic Party (PDS) is a liberal political party in Senegal that was founded by Abdoulaye Wade on 31 July 1974. The party was founded with the permission of Leopold Sedar Senghor, and the party filled the role of a liberal party in the country; a national law only permitted a Marxist-Leninist party, a socialist party, and a liberal party in the country. The PDS formed an electoral alliance with the Socialist Party of Senegal, and it became a relatively minor party during the 21st century.
