Selim al Rashid (1048-1196) was a general and mathematician of the Sultanate of Rum, and the Bey of Yerevan. He was loyal to Jalal ad-Dawlah during the Seljuk Civil Wars.
Biography[]
Selim al Rashid was born to a ghulam (slave soldier) family of the Sultanate of Rum in the city of Armenia, and rose to become the Bey of the City. The Beylik of Yerevan ruled over the town and its surrounding region, and Selim aided Jalal ad-Dawlah in the Seljuk Civil Wars of the 1080s.
