Seamus Whittle

Seamus Whittle (1854-) was an American rancher from Oklahoma during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Biography[]

Seamus Whittle was born in Emerald Ranch, Oklahoma in 1854, and he grew up to be a foreman at the ranch, as well as a fence for stolen wagons and other goods. In 1899, Van der Linde Gang outlaws Arthur Morgan and Hosea Matthews recruited Whittle as an allied fence in exchange for the theft of his cousin-in-law and rival Bob Crawford Sr.'s stagecoach. From then on, he purchased stolen goods from Morgan, especially coaches. He continued to purchase ill-gotten goods into the early 1900s.
