Sea Gate is a gated community in western Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York City. The area, located along Gravesend Bay, was developed in 1892 by real estate developer Alrick Man, and it was filled with luxurious single-family homes. The median age was 39 in 2000, with 54% of houses being rented out to tourists. Many of the houses belonged to affluent families, and luxurious cars were often found in the driveways. During the 2000s, the neighborhood was home to Russian Mafia boss Mikhail Faustin and his family. In 2012, the neighborhood was devastated by Hurricane Sandy due to its location along the Atlantic Ocean, and the sea wall was destroyed.
