
The Scottish Borders is one of 32 council areas of Scotland, located on the border with northern England. The council area borders Edinburgh, Dumfries, Galloway, East Lothian, Midlothian, South Lanarkshire, West Lothian, and, in England, Northumberland. Newtown St. Boswells is the region's capital, and the region had a population of 114,500 in 2016.
