School Street Boston

School Street is a street in Boston, Massachusetts. The street was named for the Boston Latin School, which operated along the street from 1704 to 1844. A jail operated on the street starting in 1635, and it was devastated by the Great Boston Fire of 1711. In 1798, the Massachusetts State House was built on a hilltop near School Street, and city hall moved to the street in 1841 before relocating in 1969.
