Phaiacians

Scheria, also known as Phaeacia, was a Greek island kingdom in the Ionian Sea which was located at present-day Corfu, Greece. During his return voyage from the Trojan War, Odysseus was shipwrecked on the island in 1173 BC, and, while the locals were historically hostile to strangers, Odysseus was rescued by Princess Nausicaa and was advised by Athena to sneak into the palace through the mist and supplicate at the feet of Queen Arete. The Phaeacians were thus compelled to show him mercy, and King Alcinous happily agreed to provide him a ship for his return to Ithaca after Odysseus recounted the stories of his voyages before the Phaeacian court.
