Saya Date (1987-) was a Japanese hairdresser who lived in Tokyo during the 2000s. The daughter of TMPD detective Makoto Date, she was raised by her mother after her mother separated from Date due to his obsession with investigating the 1995 murder of Sohei Dojima, and she grew up estranged from her father and came to be in a toxic relationship with the "host" Shotaro Shoji. In December 2005, Saya attempted to prostitute herself to pay off Shotaro's debts after Shotaro tricked Saya into thinking that he loved her, but her father's associate Kazuma Kiryu, with the help of Saya's friend Kimie Namba, tracked Saya down to Club Stardust, where her father confronted her. Saya angrily stormed out after calling out her father for his inattention, and Kiryu and Date rescued Saya from Koji Tokuda's thugs after they grabbed her and attempted to force her to shoot a pornographic video with them. Date went off to confront Shotaro, and Kiryu and Saya followed after Date did not come back in time. They found that Shotaro and his loan shark were beating up on Date and attempting to extort him, so Kiryu beat down Shotaro and his colleagues and freed Saya from his abuses. Saya went on to reconcile with her father, and she became a hairdresser. By 2010, she still lived with her mother, but she had a good relationship with her father, introducing him to her boyfriend.
