Satam al-Suqami (28 June 1976-11 September 2001) was a member of al-Qaeda who was involved in the 9/11 attacks of 2001. He hijacked American Airlines Flight 11 and helped to crash it into the World Trade Center.
Biography[]
Satam al-Suqami was born on 28 June 1976 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and he studied at the King Saud University. He was a law student with Majed Moqed, and he headed to the Khalden training camp in Afghanistan with his roommate and trained with al-Qaeda. al-Suqami was one of the 19 (mostly Saudi) people who were recruited to carry out terrorist attacks against America involving hijacking airplanes and using them as bombs. On 23 April 2001 he arrived in the United States and took flight lessons with Waleed al-Shehri, but he was later designated as one of the "muscle hijackers". He trained at a Boynton Beach gym with Wail al-Shehri and Waleed in Miami, and he trained to be one of the men who seized control of the plane. On 11 September 2001 he boarded American Airlines Flight 11 after leaving the Milner Hotel in Boston, and he helped to hijack the plane and crash it into the World Trade Center in New York City.
