Sarah Weston

Sarah Olivia Weston Weston (28 September 1837-25 May 1900) was the wife of American soldier and lawyer Frederick Aiken. Born in West Randolph, Vermont, the daughter of a judge, she was well-educated and married Aiken, one of her father's pupils, in 1857. She moved to Washington DC after her husband established himself as a lawyer in the capital, and she questioned his motivation for serving as Mary Surratt's defense attorney after Abraham Lincoln's assassination. After her husband's death in 1878, Aiken served as a clerk in the Treasury Department until her own death in 1900.
