Sapinuwa was a Bronze Age Hittite city located on the site of present-day Ortakoy in Corum Province, Turkey. Sapinuwa was a major religious and administrative center of Hatti due to its strategic location; it was surrounded by mountains, between the Alaca and Amasya plains, and near timber and water supplies. The Hittite court moved to Sapinuwa after the Kaskians sacked Hattusa during the reign of Tudhaliya I (r. 1400-1390 BC). Sapinuwa was later attacked by the Kaskas, forcing the Hittite court to move to Samuha.
