The Sangre de Cristo Mountains are the southernmost subrange of the Rockies, located in southern Colorado and northern New Mexico in the United States. It runs from Poncha Pass in south-central Colorado to Glorieta Pass southeast of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and its name means "Blood of Christ", the last words uttered by a Spanish priest before he was killed by Native Americans.
