The San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) is the city police department of San Francisco, California. The SFPD began operations on 13 August 1849, and it grew to become the eleventh largest police department in the United States. In 2018, it had 2,108 officers, 10 stations, 338 patrol cars, 5 boats, and over 25 dogs.
