San

The San, also known as the Bushmen, are a Khoisan hunter-gatherer people who live in Botswana, Namibia, Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, and South Africa. The San have the closest genetic links to the original humans, and their ancestors were the first inhabitants of southern Africa. The San became a semi-nomadic people, and they had a population of 90,000 people by the 2010s, 50,000-60,000 of whom lived in Botswana. From the 1950s to the 1990s, the San switched from pastoralism to farming due to government-imposed modernization policies, and they experienced ethnic discrimination from the Botswanan government.
