
Samuel "Merlin" Wells (1958-) was a naval aviator of the US Navy who attended Top Gun in 1986.
Biography[]
Samuel Wells was born in 1958, and he attended the elite "Top Gun" aviation school in 1986. Wells used the callsign "Merlin" and served as the radio intercept officer for Bill "Cougar" Cortell. When Cortell retired that year and the wingman Nick Bradshaw was killed in an accident, Wells later served under Pete Mitchell as his wingman during the mission to reascue SS Layton after it drifted into hostile waters after breaking down.
