Samuel Weaver (1978-21 August 1992) was the son of Randy and Vicki Weaver and one of the inhabitants of the Naples, Idaho lodge besieged by US federal agents in the Ruby Ridge standoff. He was born in Iowa and raised in a remote cabin with his parents and siblings, and he was raised with Christian fundamentalist and white separatist views; his mother, the religious head of the family, homeschooled him and his siblings. On 21 August 1992, federal agents laid siege to the family cabin when Randy Weaver failed to show up to court, due to a clerical error in his court papers, and the agents killed the family dog after it alerted the armed Weaver and his surrogate brother Kevin Harris to the federal agents' presence. Samuel, who was also armed according to the FBI agents, was infuriated that the agents had killed the family dog, and he shot at the agents, who responded by shooting him in the back after he was trying to escape the agents firing at him, while Kevin Harris attempted to cover him. One of the bullets fired by Agent Billy Degan penetrated his heart, killing him almost instantly
