Samuel West Peel (13 September 1831-18 December 1924) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-AR 4) from 4 March 1883 to 3 March 1885 (succeeding Thomas M. Gunter and preceding John Henry Rogers) and from AR-5 from 4 March 1885 to 3 March 1893 (preceding Hugh A. Dinsmore).
Biography[]
Samuel West Peel was born in Batesville, Arkansas in 1831, and he became a court clerk in 1858 before serving in the 3rd Arkansas Infantry Regiment and serving as colonel of the 4th Arkansas Infantry Regiment during the American Civil War. after the war, he returned to Carrollton and became a lawyer, and he moved to Bentonville in 1867 and served as a judge from 1873 to 1876 and in the US House of Representatives from 1883 to 1893. He died in 1924.
