Samuel Turell Armstrong (29 April 1784-26 March 1850) was the Whig Governor of Massachusetts from 1 March 1835 to 13 March 1836 (succeeding John Davis and preceding Edward Everett) and Mayor of Boston in 1836 (succeeding Theodore Lyman II and preceding Samuel Atkins Eliot).
Biography[]
Samuel Turell Armstrong was born in Dorchester (now in Boston), Massachusetts in 1784. He served in the state militia during the War of 1812 before becoming a bookstore owner, and he served as Lieutenant Governor from 1833 to 1836, acting Governor from 1835 to 1836, Mayor of Boston in 1836, and as a State Senator in 1839. He died in 1850.
