Samuel Preston (1665-10 September 1743) was Mayor of Philadelphia from 2 October 1711 to 7 October 1712, succeeding William Carter and preceding Jonathan Dickinson. Born in Patuxent, Maryland, he relocated to Sussex County, Delaware and served in the legislature in 1693 and 1701 and as sheriff in 1695. He became a merchant in Philadelphia in 1703, and he served as an alderman, as Mayor of Philadelphia, and as treasurer of Pennsylvania from 1714 to 1743.
