Samuel McKean (7 April 1787 – 14 December 1841) was a member of the US House of Representatives (DR-PA 9) from 4 March 1823 to 3 March 1829 (preceding Philander Stephens) and a US Senator (D) from 4 March 1833 to 4 March 1839 (succeeding George M. Dallas and preceding Daniel Sturgeon).
Biography[]
Samuel McKean was born in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania in 1787, and he worked as a merchant before becoming a state legislator and a Major-General in the state militia. He went on to serve in the US House of Representatives from 1823 to 1829 and in the US Senate from 1833 to 1839, and he died in 1841.
