Samuel L. Sawyer

Samuel Locke Sawyer (27 November 1813 – 29 March 1890) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-MO 8) from 4 March 1879 to 3 March 1881, succeeding Benjamin Joseph Franklin and preceding Robert T. Van Horn.

Biography[]

Samuel Locke Sawyer was born in Mont Vernon, New Hampshire in 1813, and he practiced law in Amherst before moving to Lexington, Missouri in 1838. He served as a circuit attorney, as a judge from 1871 to 1876, and in the US House of Representatives from 1879 to 1881, and he died in Independence in 1890.
