
Samuel Freeman Hersey (12 April 1812-3 February 1875) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-ME 4) from 4 March 1873 to 3 February 1875, succeeding John A. Peters and preceding Harris M. Plaisted.
Biography[]
Samuel Freeman Hersey was born in Sumner, Maine on 12 April 1812. He worked as a schoolteacher before becoming a lumber baron in Bangor, and he served in the State House before serving as a delegate to the 1860 Republican National Convention. He went on to serve in the State Senate from 1868 to 1869 and in the US House of Representatives from 1873 until his death in 1875.
