Samuel Edwards

Samuel Edwards (12 March 1785-21 November 1850) was a member of the US House of Representatives (F-PA 1) from 4 March 1819 to 3 March 1823 (preceding Samuel Breck) and from PA-4 from 4 March 1823 to 3 March 1827 (succeeding James S. Mitchell and preceding Samuel Anderson).

Biography[]

Samuel Edwards was born in Chester Township, Pennsylvania in 1785, and he became a lawyer in Chester in 1806. He served in the US House of Representatives from 1819 to 1827, initially as a Federalist; while he was mentored by Henry Clay, he joined the Jacksonian movement rather than the Whigs. He later served in several local offices in Chester and died in 1850.
