
Samuel Beardsley (6 February 1790-6 May 1860) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-NY 14) from 4 March 1831 to 3 March 1833 (succeeding Henry R. Storrs and preceding Ransom H. Gillet), from NY-17 from 4 March 1833 to 1836 (succeeding John W. Taylor and preceding Rutger B. Miller), and from NY-20 from 4 March 1843 to 1844 (succeeding Samuel Gordon and preceding Levi D. Carpenter). Born in Hoosick, he was raised in Richfield before serving in the War of 1812, practicing law in Watertown and Rome, and serving as Oneida County district attorney from 1821 to 1825, in the state senate in 1823, as US Attorney General for the Northern District of New York from 1823 to 1830, in Congress, as state Attorney General from 1836 to 1839, and in Congress. He later practiced law in Utica and New York City until his death in 1860.
