
Samuel Ashe (24 March 1725 – 3 February 1813) was the Democratic-Republican Governor of North Carolina from 19 November 1795 to 7 December 1798, succeeding Richard Dobbs Spaight and preceding William Richardson Davie.
Biography[]
Samuel Ashe was born in Beaufort, North Carolina in 1725, the brother of John Ashe, and the father of John Baptista Ashe. He practiced law and served in the provincial congress and Patriot militia during the American Revolutionary War, and he served as Governor from 1795 to 1798. He died in 1813.
