Samit Mishra

Samit Mishra was an Indian RAW intelligence officer and the mastermind of 2015's Operation Phantom, an assassination campaign launched against the Pakistani Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist group without the knowledge or consent of the Indian government. Mishra persuaded RAW Director Sabyasachi Roy to launch the operation after the capture of LeT sleeper agent Mousa Hamid, who revealed that Lashkar was plotting a terrorist attack in India, although he knew not when or where, leading to Mishra realizing that the best defense would be a good offense. He personally led the Indian Navy's effort to rescue the operatives Daniyal Khan and Nawaz Mistry as they attempted to swim into Indian territorial waters from Pakistani territorial waters off Karachi, but he was saddened to see that Mistry was the only one who made it, as Khan had been mortally wounded during their escape.
