Sam McCloud (1924) is a US Marshals from Taos, New Mexico who is on special assignment to New York. He is attached to the 27th Precinct of the New York Police Department. McCloud's Western ways often annoyed his boss, Lt. Peter B. Clifford, who prefers a more routine "by the books" method of policing. McCloud carries a Colt .45 revolver like many westerners before him. He is famous for stopping tons of crime in New York. By 1989, he became Senator of New Mexico, governing on a Libertarian conservatism platform. In 1989, his niece was murdered and went to London to find her killer. He was close friends with "Cowboy" Bob Smith of Paleto Bay.
