Salama Moussa

Salama Moussa (1887-4 August 1958) was an Egyptian socialist intellectual and political theorist. Born in Zagazig to a Coptic family with origins in Asyut, he was educated in France, where he became a socialist and secularist. Moussa published articles in Mustafa Kamil Pasha's nationalist newspaper Al Liwa before learning English while studying in London, where he sympathized with the Fabian Society. Moussa became an author and socialist activist, observing peasant living conditions for his books. He supervised the science section in Akhbar el-Yom from the Egyptian Revolution of 1952 until his death in 1958.
