Salah Aboud Mahmoud

Salah Aboud Mahmoud (born 1950) was a Major-General of the Iraqi Army who fought in the Iran-Iraq War and Gulf War.

Biography[]

Mahmoud was born in Baghdad in 1950 and commanded the Iraqi 3rd Corps in the Iran-Iraq War, serving as one of the most important generals of the Iraqi Army. Mahmoud later distinguished himself in the Gulf War of 1990-1991 in the Battle of Khafji with the army of Saudi Arabia and with the United States in the Battle of 73 Easting.

However, Mahmoud fled after the 2003 Iraq War when the US and a force of European allied troops took over the country, and his whereabouts are unknown.
