Saint Lucians are the inhabitants of the island of Saint Lucia in the Caribbean Sea. In 2009, it had a population of 173,765 inhabitants, with 85.3% being black, 10.8% mixed black and European, 2.2% Indian, .6% white, .5% native American, .1% Chinese, .1% Middle Eastern, and .3% other. The official language of Saint Lucia is English, although Saint Lucian Creole French (Patwah/Patois) is spoken by 95% of the population. 90.2% of the population is Christian, 2.3% non-Christian (including Hindu or Muslim Indians, Buddhist Chinese, Muslim Arabs, and animist native Americans), and 5.9% atheist.
