The Saint Bernard nightclub bombing occurred in 2015 when Hamas suicide bomber Amal Hammed detonated a bomb hidden in her handbag as she visited the busy Saint Bernard nightclub in Tel Aviv, Israel. The bombing was carried out in retaliation for a Mista'arvim raid on her wedding that killed her groom Bashir Hammed.
The Mista'arvim had discovered from the cooperative Hamas commander Ali Karmi that the arch-terrorist Taufiq Hammed was still alive and was planning a major terrorist attack, and that his brother Bashir was to marry his fiancee Amal in Safwad, north of Ramallah. Mista'arvim operatives Doron Kabilio and Eli Daniel unsuccessfully attempted to infiltrate the wedding while disguised as Arab caterers, resulting in a shootout that left Bashir and Amjad Abu Khalef dead. Amal, desiring martyrdom, approached her brother-in-law's acquaintance Walid al-Abed and persuaded him to approach Taufiq and obtain permission for her to carry out a martyrdom operation. Taufiq agreed, but only as long as Amal would drop off the bomb and leave before it detonated in three minutes' time. Khaled al-Yahudi dropped her off at the nightclub, and he was to serve as her getaway driver. However, she lingered at the bar while crying, and she asked the bartender Daria to give her a Diet Coke, the signal for Khaled to start the timer. A distraught Amal remained in the bar as the bomb went off, killing 5 people, including Daria, whose boyfriend Boaz Capon was one of the Mista'arvim operatives who took part in the wedding raid, and who had accidentally dropped a matchbox containing the name of the nightclub.
In response to the attack, the Mista'arvim team set about tracking down Taufiq, sending Doron to seduce Walid's cousin Shirin al-Abed, who worked at the hospital from which Taufiq had disappeared. At the same time, Nurit Shimon led a team to raid Taufiq's safehouse, following Dr. Abu Sharif to Taufiq's hideaway, but Taufiq's guards caught wind of the Israelis' plan, and Taufiq took shelter under the floor as the Israelis killed a woman who attempted to stab Nurit, and were unable to find the terrorist leader.
