Said Ismagilov (born 9 August 1978) was Mufti of the Religious Administration of Muslims in Ukraine.
Biography[]
Said Ismagilov was born in Donetsk, Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union in 1978 to a family of Muslim Tatars, and he became a Sunni imam in 1997 and became mufti of the Religious Administration of Muslims in Ukraine in 2007. He became an active participant in the 2013-2014 Euromaidan protest movement, supporting democratic change alongside Catholic, Orthodox, and Jewish religious leaders and activists. He strongly condemned Russia's annexation of Crimea due to Ukraine's provision of more rights and freedoms to Muslims than Russia. In 2014, he was an unsuccessful candidate for the Verkhovna Rada for the social democratic All-Ukrainian Political Party "Ukraine - One Country" party.
