Said Halim Pasha (18 January 1865-6 December 1921) was Grand Vizier of the Ottoman Empire from 12 June 1913 to 4 February 1917, succeeding Mahmud Shevket Pasha and preceding Talaat Pasha.
Biography[]
Said Halim was the grandson of King Muhammad Ali of Egypt, and he was born in Cairo. He served as a dignitary in the Ottoman Empire and negotiated an alliance with the German Empire, and from 1913 to 1917 he served as Grand Vizier under Sultan Mehmed V. He resigned in 1917 during clashes between him and the ruling Committee of Union and Progress (CUP), and in 1919 he was exiled to Malta after being court-martialed for negotiating the Ottoman-German alliance. In 1921, he moved to Sicily, and on 6 December 1921 he was shot dead by Arshavir Shirakian of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation due to his alleged role in the Armenian Genocide; he was among many Ottoman politicians killed in Operation Nemesis.
