Sai no Kawara, known in English as Purgatory, is an underground gambling and pleasure den located in an abandoned metro station in West Park in the Kabukicho neighborhood of Tokyo, Japan. The former police detective turned information dealer, "the Florist of Sai", opened Purgatory as a hidden pleasure district which included brothels, a casino, and an illegal fighting arena. Purgatory was also home to the Florist's surveillance center, from which he observed the goings-on of Tokyo through 10,000 hidden cameras. In 2006, the Florist handed over the care of Purgatory to yakuza boss Goro Majima after choosing to rejoin the police, but the construction of the Kabukicho Hills development necessitated the destruction of the disused subway entrance, leading to the entrance to Purgatory being moved to a manhole on Shichifuku Street in 2010.
