Safa Giray

Safa Giray (1637-1703) was Khan of Crimea from 1691 to 1692, succeeding Saadet III Giray and preceding Selim I Giray. A grandson of Selamet I Giray, he was enthroned after Saadet's deposition by the Turks. However, he was accused of drunkenness, extortion, and tax farming, and he was deposed by the Ottomans for refusing to aid the Turks against the Habsburgs. He died in exile in Bulgaria.
