Biography[]
Sa'd bin Zangi was born in 1164, the son of Zangi bin Mawdud and the brother of Degele bin Zangi. He succeeded his brother as Atabeg of the Salghurids in 1198, and the Salghurids experienced significant prosperity under his rule, although this was marred when he became a vassal of the Khwarazmian Empire.
