
The SU-85 was a self-propelled gun produced by the Soviet Union from 1943 into the 1950s during World War II, based on the T-34 tank. The SU-85 could serve as eitehr a tank destroyer or assault gun, and its name comes from the 85 mm D-5S gun used on the vehicle. 2,050 have been built since 1943, seeing service in several Warsaw Pact and Eastern Bloc countries during the Cold War.
