Finbar "Rusty" Galloway (1896) was an American Los Angeles Police Department Homicide Detective who is famous for helping Cole Phelps solve the Black Dahlia Murders in 1947. Rusty got his start as a lawman towards the very end of the Wild West era by working as a Deputy for his friend Jack Marston in Blackwater, Texas in 1914 at the age of 18. rusty worked with Jack through the Roaring Twenties, and Prohibition,eras, until he moved back to Los Angeles in 1929, just before the Great Depression, when he joined the Los Angeles Police Department. He would remain in contact with Marston throughout the rest of his time in the Los Angeles Police Department, Rusty was a heavy drinker, which led to him often becoming lazy by noon time each day, until Cole Phelps inspired him to change his ways after he became his partner following the retirement of crooked cop Floyd Rose in 1947. Rusty was known to make derogatory remarks about women, admitting that h went through multiple divorces, but he ultimately cared about the victims of the Black Dahlia Murders. He retired in 1964 after 50 years in law enforcement and he reconciled with his daughter, and retired to his ranch in Los Angeles County, California. Rusty was a proud, staunch Conservative Republican Party member, as well as a staunch member of the National Rifle Association, along with his lifelong friend, Jack Marston.
